Questions
How do I know when the banana bread is done?
Bake at 180°C (350°F) for about 1 hour, until a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean.
How should I store banana bread?
Let it cool, then keep it wrapped in the refrigerator, or freeze it for longer storage.
Can I use butter instead of margarine?
Yes. Use the same weight (115 g) of softened butter; beat it with the sugar until smooth, as in step 2.
Can I add walnuts or chocolate chips?
Yes. Fold a handful of chopped walnuts or chocolate chips, or a pinch of cinnamon, into the batter at the end of step 2. The bread works without them.
Is this banana bread halal?
The recipe is pork-free and lists no alcohol. It is not halal-certified: check that the margarine carries halal certification, since some margarines contain animal-derived ingredients.
